Andy and Alison approached us with a particularly challenging project. Following a recent extension, their garden was left with approximately 80 tonnes of earth, distributed in mounds throughout the space and with no accessible soft areas.
Their vision was to establish a sense of flow and ease of access across the entire garden. In order to achieve this, they sought to create three distinct, tiered spaces, each offering a unique function for different members of the family, yet ultimately providing a cohesive and enjoyable environment for everyone to appreciate together.
To bring their vision to life, we conducted several detailed consultations, ensuring that the final design would cater to the needs of the entire family. While Andy and Alison preferred to minimise further hard landscaping, it was necessary to construct a retaining wall and install steps leading to the top tier. This approach allowed us to repurpose much of the surplus soil and take full advantage of the elevation in the garden’s upper corner.
