The previous decking had suffered from instability, as tree roots had displaced key fixings over time, and heavy leaf accumulation had led to widespread rot in both the decking boards and the underlying joists. To address these issues, we completely re-laid all joists and installed new posts where necessary, thereby ensuring the structural integrity of the new deck. The deck itself was finished in a refined softwood, chosen for both its durability and aesthetic appeal.

A custom-designed hatch was installed to provide access to the storage area beneath, maximising usable space and keeping the garden tidy. To accommodate the natural growth of the Oak tree and maintain its health, a 50mm surround was constructed around its base. To complete the project, a high-quality oil was applied to the deck, enhancing its durability and ensuring longevity for years to come.
